Welcome

This year the primary campus is focussing on a quality curriculum for all students and how best to assess what the children have learnt.  We have ensured that curriculum is relevant, exciting and encourages the skills of problem solving and critical thinking.  To enhance the quality of the learning that children have access to we have arranged for educational excursions for every class relevant to the work that is being completed in class.

To increase the literacy levels of the children we have allocated over $15000 towards the purchase of “levelled” reading books ensuring that all children have access to a wide range of reading material that is at the level of the reader.  With the information age upon us and the explosion in the amount of information available to children, literacy is arguably the most important skill to “educationally survive” in the here and now.  For instance the amount of information (books, TV., internet, advertising, CD ROM, print media – papers and magazines) in the world doubles every nine months!

We anticipate working with the Middle School in a number of academic, social and sporting areas.  Being a part of a College gives the primary campus children (and staff) greater access to resources that have previously been the domain of traditional high schools.  We are looking forward to days at the Middle Campus where our children can use the robotics laboratory, utilise an industrial kitchen, access an industrial technology and design facility and sample what our in-between neighbour (University of the Sunshine Coast) has to offer.

All in all, an exciting time.

Regards

Chris Capra (Principal – Primary Campus)
