How does my
garden grow?
This
unit is a ‘get down and get dirty’ approach to the discovery of the
fascinating intricacies of the plant world. As children potter around in
their established garden they will identify species
of plants
and display
a plant knowledge that
would make Don Burke proud.
They
will investigate plant lifecycles and learn the delicate balance of mother
nature. The
children will ultimately
establish how crucial the sustainability of our plant world is
to the future existence of
all living things.

Why
is water so important?
Three
quarters of the Earth is covered by it.
It is home to
both the world’s smallest and largest animals. It
is found in various forms and states all over our planet. The availability
of fresh quantities of it is the crucial factor to the survival of
so much of our natural world. What is it? Water of course!
During
this unit,
children will discover that water, even though recyclable, is very
precious.
They will learn that water is
the very existence of all living things. They will identify
exactly how different living things rely on water to survive. Children
will investigate what we can
all do to ensure the
protection of
this most integral
resource. |
How do I best
look after me?
Walk
that beam’, ‘lift the bar’, ‘swim that last lap’ - How good is
your fitness. What does it really mean to be ‘fit’ and
‘healthy’?
During
this unit the children will investigate the different elements of health
to discover that being ‘healthy’ stems from a good sense of ‘how we
work’.
They will discover that
being ‘healthy’ is about making daily choices and that many factors
may influence our decisions.
