Year 4 Students' WorkYear 4's a great year - working and playing together

Year 4 Units Of Excellence 2005
How does it work?

Have you ever stopped to think about how something worked? Maybe when it hasn’t worked you have pulled it apart in fascination and thought...I wonder what happens when you cross the red wire with the blue wire?

During this unit, children will marvel at the mysteries of simple mechanisms and discover how energy ‘makes things work’. They will investigate the different sources of energy and how these are used in our community. They will follow the ‘life’ of energy to observe the changes that occur when energy is transferred to make things work.

hat can I learn travelling Australia?

Imagine this. You are sitting with your family around the dinner table, when Mum and Dad drop this exciting news - forget school for the term, the road will be your classroom, we’re packing up all the camping gear, latching on the camp trailer and heading off around Australia for the trip of a lifetime. There is only one catch, your teacher has asked that you keep a journal of what you see, do and learn along the way - how easy is that?!

During this unit children will investigate many and varied locations, discovering the wildlife and environmental features of our Great Southern Land as well as the many other attractions that make Australia such a tourist Mecca.

What would life be without sport?

Switch on the TV, surf the channels and you’ll probably find it. Walk down the street, visit the park, the river, the beach and you’ll definitely find it… And well school, it just wouldn’t be school without it? During this unit, children will investigate the role that SPORT plays in Australian society.

Children will investigate the health and cultural impact of sport, the variety of sporting and leisure options available to us, as well as tracking the origins of particular sports and sporting traditions.
