Student Support Programs 

Chancellor has access to various educational specialists.  Parents, teachers and specialists work closely together to ensure suitable programs are designed for the  individual needs of specific students.

 

Our team works in the areas of:

  Cognitive assessments

  Counselling
  Designing support programs   Parenting programs
  Appraising learning difficulties   Social Skilling
  Fine/Gross Motor Programs   Life Skills
  Assessing Speech language and carrying out therapy   Supporting children with low incidence difficulties
Working in classrooms, small groups and on a 1 to1 basis Career Education

 

The staff  providing student services includes:

  Guidance Officer   Dominic Towler

       

A Guidance Officer visits the school on a regular basis.  The role of the Guidance Officer is to provide counselling and assessment support to students and families.

Learning Support Teachers are based at Chancellor.  The Learning Support Teachers assist students by working closely with teachers, designing individual education programs (enrichment and learning support), assisting students and teachers with behaviour management strategies, and by working in classrooms and on a small group/individual basis.

Advisory Visiting Teachers operate across a number of school sites to support students in the following areas:
Hearing Impairment
Physical Impairment
Intellectual Impairment
Speech Language Impairment
Visual Impairment

Autistic Spectrum Disorder
Early Special Education
These personnel operate on a referral basis according to identified student needs.

A Speech Language Pathologist is assigned to the school on a one day a fortnight basis to assess and work with students with speech language needs.

Your permission for  referral and testing will be obtained where a teacher considers that your child would benefit from specialist support.
Please contact your child's class teacher or the special needs team if you would like to discuss the special educational needs of your child.
