BOOK WEEK
There is a Book Week colouring competition that Chancellor Students may like
to participate in. Click here to
print out the picture to colour in. These need to be completed and
handed in to Mrs Hill in the Library before 30th August.
MATHLETICS
The school has paid for a year's subscription to the
Mathletics website.
Children can access this on week days between 8:30am and 3:45pm. It is
one way for children to practise their tables and review maths concepts in a
fun, challenging way. Children can play online against other children
from other Australian & New Zealand schools in an attempt to get into the
list of top 10 students for the week.
WELCOME TO BETH CONKLIN
6H has the privilege of hosting an international student teacher from
Suny Cortland University in New York State. I trust Beth will enjoy
her prac experience for the term and indulge in the Aussie way of life.
PRIMARY ATHLETICS
The Primary Athletics Carnival is scheduled for Wednesday 26 July on the
school oval and Thursday 27 July at the University sports fields. A
number of afternoons leading up to the carnival have been set aside (weather
permitting) for athletics training and nominating into events.
HUMAN RELATIONSHIP EDUCATION (HRE)
An expert representative from Family Planning Australia will be on hand to
discuss any sensitive questions or issues the children may have regarding
changes in their lives. These sessions are optional, though highly
recommended.
A Parent Information evening is planned for 24 August to discuss with
parents the topics covered.
QUESTFEST
Students and parents are invited to come along to school on the evening of
Thursday 14 August to view some of the children's work from this term.
KEY ASSESSMENT TASKS
Term 3's Unit of Excellence is titled: "Professor, Why Is It So?".
It primarily focuses on some of the different key concepts in the areas of
Chemistry and Physics.
Task 1 - Science Experiment Video
DUE: 8 September
Task 2 - Experiment Diary
DUE 15 September
MINI TASKS
This term there are 3 Mini Tasks for the children to complete.
These are online tasks that may be completed either at home or at school.
At this stage of Year 6 we are beginning to increase the workload with more
tasks to ready the children for Year 7 next year. The key idea behind
the Mini Tasks is to encourage them to plan ahead and meet mid-term
deadlines.
